Alumni Scholarship

This new Alumni Scholarship program is designed to support graduates of Saint Paul College and their immediate family members who wish to advance their post-secondary education at the College. The Alumni Scholarship has its own application, eligibility criteria, and due dates.

Bob Christopherson Memorial

Distributed once a year to a student in Metal Fabrication/Welding Program.

Carl Eastvold Endowment

Distributed two times per year to Saint Paul College students.

Robert Erickson Fund

Distributed several times per year to students attending Saint paul College part-time only.

General/Excellence

Need-based scholarship distributed three times per year to current Saint Paul College students.

IBEW Local #110

A merit scholarship distributed to a Centennial High School graduate enrolled in the Saint Paul College Construction Electricity program.

Kopp Presidential

Distributed two times year to Saint Paul College incoming or current outstanding academic students.

Toby Landgraf

Distributed twice a year to students in the MN Technical College Culinary Arts or Hospitality programs.

Leadership Scholarship

The Leadership Scholarship program is available to seniors who are currently attending a high school in the Independent School District (ISD) 625 of Saint Paul Public Schools. All Leadership Scholarship applicants must complete the Leadership Scholarship Application.

Xcel Energy

Distributed several times per year to students enrolled in Energy Process Technology, Math, or Science programs.

Guidelines & procedures


General guidelines

The Saint Paul College Foundation offers merit and needs-based scholarships to students attending Saint Paul College — A Community & Technical College. Scholarships are awarded three times per year before the fall and spring semesters and the summer term. Applications are due July 1, November 1 and April 1. Applications are reviewed by the scholarship committee and then forwarded to the Foundation Board of Directors for approval. A variety of scholarships are available to choose from, but certain scholarships may have special guidelines to adhere to. Applications that are not complete will not be reviewed. If there is a section on the application that a student cannot provide the appropriate information, please write “not applicable” (N/A) in the space and a brief reason why.

Application criteria

Student must complete the entire application process, which will include stating or attaching the following information:

  • Declare a Saint Paul College program (may include general education studies).
  • Student status:
    • Full-time student: At least 12 credits.
    • Part-time student: At least 6 credits.
  • Must have applied for college financial aid, if applicable.
  • Must attach a financial aid award letter, if applicable.
  • Grade point average (cumulative): must be at least a 2.5 or higher.
  • Brief description for the use of funding.
  • Current Instructor Recommendation Form completed and signed.
  • Must attach an employer recommendation letter, if applicable.
  • Must have current “non-official” transcripts attached to application (please see the Foundation Director if you are a new or first semester student).

Awarding criteria

Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled at Saint Paul College. Students must identify if they are attending the College as a full-time or part-time student. Awards are distributed three times per year for the fall and spring semesters and the summer term. Students may apply for up to three scholarship types, but will only be awarded one, if approved. Scholarship amounts will range from $100.00 to $1,000.00 depending on the fund criteria and allocations. Scholarship amounts are dictated by the student’s enrollment status, academic achievement and/or financial need. The request for scholarship monies must be used for tuition, books and/or fees.

Award notification

Students who are awarded a Foundation scholarship will be notified by mail within one week after the Board Meeting. Award notification will also be given to the current program instructor, financial aid office and tuition office.

Award payment process

Students who are awarded a Foundation scholarship will have a credit with the appropriate allocation on their student account. Students who have all educational expenses paid in full may choose to have Saint Paul College authorize a reimbursement check payment or authorize to forward any remaining balance for the following semester.

Renewals

Students are allowed to apply for scholarship monies each cycle, but there are no guarantees for consecutive approvals.

Each student must complete the entire scholarship application and turn it in to Financial Aid Office before the application deadlines, in order to be eligible for review. Students will be notified on application status no more than one week after the Foundation Board of Directors meeting. (Third Monday of July, November and May).
